Stop Using Tactics that No Longer Work

I'm about to share a valuable lesson that will help you save time.

Let's face it:

Many of us waste days, weeks, and even months applying for jobs using traditional tactics.

How do I know?

I spent years doing the same thing until I discovered the world of personal branding.

Allow me to explain.

Five years ago, I got laid off from a job that I thought I was meant to be at.

At first, I went back to all I ever knew:

  • Polish the resume
  • Apply for every job you see
  • Stay optimistic.

The problem?

It wasn't working.

I essentially submitted my resume and cover letter to a massive pile with thousands of others.

Anyway...

As time went along, I discovered the world of personal branding.

I'll never forget the switch this concept flipped in my brain.

Personal Brand = Control of your career.

I knew I had to do something that could allow me to be in charge.

For months, I studied some of the best creators like:

I watched how creative and consistent they were with their content.

Later on, I did what everyone should do: I started posting daily content.

I posted first and asked questions later.

The result?

I built this newsletter and launched my first digital course.

But here's the moral of this story:

You need to be noticed by your next employer. Otherwise, you're simply adding more resumes and cover letters to a large pile.

It turns out I was completely invisible to opportunities.

Hiring managers do look online to get a sense of the person they want to interview.

Prior to my layoff, I hadn't taken my brand seriously enough.

I spent hours hitting apply on every application I could find.

At my lowest point, I realized the problem wasn't my resume. It was the tactics I used.

I didn't put myself out there for people to see, and I learned a valuable lesson:

Hope is not a strategy.

After years of stacking the resume pile, I figured something out.

A personal brand will help me stand out to employers and hiring managers.

How do I start building one?

I'm glad you asked.
